J&J Getting out of Wound Care?

Last week I wrote this about companies using twitter to reach out to nurses:

Imagine this scenario: You are using a Johnson & Johnson wound care product. Overall, it’s an effective product but there are ways that you see it could be improved…

Turns out I should have done my homework. Apparently J&J is divesting itself of its wound care business.

Okay, so scratch that example. Later in the day I’m going to be discussing the other medical company that uses an ampersand in its name: Smith & Nephew. I’ll be talking about one product in particular, and how they could be using other Web 2.0 apps (like Twitter) to reach out to nurses.

  1. I don’t think Johnson & Johnson will ever get out of wound care. That is one of the basic tenets of their business. I highly doubt it will ever happen.
